What is an Air B Contractor License?
The Florida Class B Air Conditioning Contractor License allows individuals to install, maintain, repair, fabricate, alter, extend, and design air-conditioning systems that are:
- Limited to 25 tons of cooling capacity and 500,000 BTUs of heating capacity.
- Connected to low-pressure systems.
This license is ideal for professionals working in residential and light commercial HVAC.


State Of Florida Requirements To Obtain The License
To become a licensed Class B Air Conditioning Contractor in Florida, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have at least 4 years of experience in the trade (one year must be supervisory).
OR a combination of college education and experience totaling 4 years. - Pass the Florida State Licensing Exam.
Business & Finance Exam.
Trade Knowledge Exam (Air B). - Submit an application to the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
- Provide proof of financial stability, credit score, and insurance.
- Pay all applicable licensing and application fees.
